MAKEUP HAUL + REVIEWS! (neutrogena revitalizing lip balm, neutrogena moistureshine gloss, revlon just bitten, and chanel rouge allure velvet!)

hey everyone! i hope everyone’s having a great thanksgiving break so far.

i’ve bought a ton of makeup lately and forgot to review about them.

to start off, my non-lipstick related makeup: nail polish!!! i didn’t buy all of this at once, but over the course of the past year or so. i <3 essie nail polish! (i have more, but these are my most recent/favorite ones!)

the 4th one from the left in the essie picture is the newest one i’ve purchased, which was yesterday, as well as the clear top coat!

TIME FOR MAKEUP YAY.

so from left to right, we have:
♦ neutrogena moistureshine gloss in nutri berry
♣ neutrogena moistureshine gloss in healthy peach
♠ neutrogena revitalizing lip balm in healthy blush
♥ neutrogena healthy lengths mascara in carbon black; the non-waterproof version (i’ve heard weird reviews about the waterproof version! :x)

so the first review will be on the neutrogena revitalizing lip balm in healthy blush.
it is honestly the best tinted lip balm i’ve ever used! i’ve tried the burt’s bee’s tinted lip balm in rose and it’s not as creamy and bright as this one. definitely an A+ from me!

(sorry for awkward lips, my entire face is all sore and gross because i had a sleepover with some of my old friends and we stayed up till 4:45 AM!!!)

and here is the neutrogena moistureshine gloss in nutri berry and healthy peach!

(i did a half and half thing–as you can maybe tell, the nutri berry has a darker pink tone and the healthy peach has orange/tan undertones.)

i love these lip glosses! they’re really moisturizing, as advertised, and last a pretty long time. it’s great for wearing to school because the application is really quick and easy, and the colors are not too bright but add a little pop. yay!

now here are the two neutrogena moistureshine glosses and the revitalizing lip balm all swatched next to each other!
the order is healthy peach (gloss), nutri berry (gloss), and healthy peach (lip balm) in natural lighting.

and how it looks under flash.

as you can probably tell, the lip blam does give off some color but it’s mostly for moisture or wearing under lip glosses as a prep. the two lipglosses have a pretty good amount of color but nutri berry is a little brighter! :)

on to the revlon ‘just bitten’ lipstain + balm combo in gothic!

it’s kind of like a red sharpie that is running out of ink.

honestly i wasn’t really impressed but at the same time it’s really handy–when i first used it (last night), the color came out really well, and in photographs my friends took it turned out well and usually i have the problem of when the inside of my lip is different colors with the lipstick on the outside but for this it didn’t happen!

the cons: difficult to apply, rubs off a strange thin ‘layer’….imagine those crayola markers, and coloring over one spot over and over–and the paper starts to peel? that kind of happened, it was really strange. the color takes forever to come out after the second and third uses!

overall, could have been better, but i didn’t expect much from a drugstore-bought lipstain. i love lipstains though, they work well for me because i have strange shaped lips, haha!

ON TO MY MOST FAVORITE LIPSTICK!!!

that’s right folks. i bought a lipstick from chanel’s new rouge allure velvet line!

i bought it in the shade ‘la somptueuse’, number 39, out of the eight different shades.

i absolutely CANNOT get over this lipstick. it is the perfect holiday shade! i generally have a hard time shopping for red lipsticks, since i’m really pale, but this dark red lipstick is the perfect shade.

it’s also really matte which looks really classy and flawless! it applies really well and you don’t have to use a lip pencil (but you still can if preferred.) it lasts FOREVER too–i went a whole day without having to reapply it! (then again, i didn’t really eat or drink anything that day! hahaha)

the photos aren’t as true to color as i wanted them to be– the lipstick is a little darker in person.

my la mer collections watch review!

hey everyone! i bought this awesome la mer watch over the summer in around late june/july, but never really thought to post or review about it! XD

la mer collections is an awesome company from , and they sell beautiful handcrafted leather watches. they are famous for the double wrap around style! my la mer watch is called the bali stud watch. for some reason,  i really like the brown/gold version (equally as much as brown/silver) <3

i generally don’t wear watches, but i bought it impulsively at one of my favorite stores, called therapy :) they have a great store in san francisco; check it out if you’re in the van ness area!

ANYWAY! so i bought this watch, and wore it consecutively over the summer for days on end. i even wore it during band camp in august, in the middle of nowhere, and it lasted and stayed strong throughout my entire rather rough journey.

unfortunately, the second week of school, i was sitting down in a circle to read macbeth in english and i hit my watch on the corner of a table and the strap broke in a weird way; thank god the actual watch wasn’t damaged, but if you can see those little bars above and below the watch face–it got unhooked and the leather strap FELL OUT.

so my friend was trying to help me fix it and we were so stupid and put in the metal part that had unhooked, but forgot to put the leather part on it first. so basically the metal part was in, and the leather part wasn’t. and we could NOT get it out.

so i check on the la mer site  and see if there is a warranty–luckily for me, there is! it’s under an automatic 2 year warranty from the day you purchase it (as of november 2011, at least!). i contacted them just in case, and asked if my damage was eligible, since technically i didn’t intentionally break it. they said there would be no fees to pay to have it fixed, and i didn’t even have to pay for return shipping!

i put it in the flat rate box, ready to be shipped for THREE MONTHS. but i got caught up in schoolwork and my messy room just covered up everything and the box was hidden from sight for quite some time. a few weeks ago my mom asks what the box is for and if it’s something i sold on ebay and never shipped, and as it turns out i had still not shipped my broken watch! she ships it for me [with tracking, just for safe measures] and within 5 business days i got it back, good as new, AND they included a free box that i was never given when i purchased it! (because i purchased it on the spot and it was on display instead of in one of those glass cases; perhaps the associates forgot to add it in).

anyway, i’m REALLY happy and it’s one of the best watches i’ve ever used–it doubles as a watch and a sweet bracelet, all my friends are super jealous, and besides my accident it’s actually really durable! i haven’t had any technical problems with it.

the only con is that the little end of the strap after you put it on your wrist is kind of banged up and starting to rip, which bothers me, but at the same time gives it a restless look ;)

how can you love me when you don’t like me? [lookbook]

i bought a new sweater that i love! it’s from a brand called elizabeth & james, and it’s called ‘kennedy! and it has pom pom things on it :) it retails for $225 at neiman marcus/saks fifth avenue/revolve clothing but i got it for $….less :), hooray ♥

if there’s one thing i splurge on, it’s outerwear…if sweaters count as outerwear, lol! knits, coats, and shoes. those are the essential items to splurge on. in general it’s good to keep in mind quality over quantity, or at least i do! :P

i just love it, it’s perfect for this random weather that has circulated in california! :( :(

i mostly took these because i wanted a new profile picture, but they weren’t really anything special so i decided to just post them here :D i feel like my head looks really big in some of these. ASLKDJFSKLDFJ!

you can kind of see my new haircut in these pics–i’ll have a more detailed post on that in a little bit :DD

trick or treating 2011!

beware!

i wore my minnie mouse costume to school on monday for halloween, and trick or treated with one of my best friends, hope! :)

before we begin, please hype my halloween look on lookbook! yayyy!

SO ANYWAY!

kigurumis are really popular at my school. during homecoming week, there were 3 people including me who wore kigurumis!

(i blocked out my classmates’ faces for their privacy, not because they look bad, haha!)

one of my best friends, sabrina, who wanted a pic with one of my classmates who made a deadmau5 head…thing. kewl.

now the actual trick or treating! my friend hope is super gorgeous, and i *hope* she doesn’t mind me posting these haha! (get it, her name is hope and i said hope….okay moving on)

all the places we trick or treated at were fancy houses, which means old people owned them (after all, only old people can afford nice things……hahahha jk!) so they all recognized hope’s outfit, which we were afraid people might not!!

a beautiful house–the photo does it no justice, the yard was huge and the front door was beautiful! i remember there was a hugeeeeeee handmade tarantula thing they made that was sitting in the porch of the house so hope had to get my candy for me cuz i was too scared :( :( i should be a scaredy cat next year!! :P

we went to this house that decorated their entire parking lot, and filled up a hugeeee balloon with helium. look at it in comparison to the real moon–omg!

this thing was SOOOOOOOOO SCARY!!!!!!!! i was trying to take a pic of hope imitating it and when the flash went off the head starting moving and saying stuff! i have a video of it that i might post later, omg it’s sooo scary and caught us off guard lol!

minnie mouse halloween 2011!

hey all! hope you had a fantastic and safe halloween 2011!

so i did the minnie mouse buns from one of my posts a few weeks ago and had a photoshoot for lookbook’s contest!

i ended up not having the time to do this for school/actual trick or treating, but at least i have photos! :D

i’ll post photos of actually trick or treating in a few days. i have a ton of work to do so i can’t blog that much!

gonna be in the newspaper in 2 weeks–wooooo! :)

sorry for the gross hair–the hairspray i bought a few days ago works really well but leaves a gross residue! this is the first time i’ve used it :P
