spring shopping is insane (i guess i should apologize for my hiatus)

so like the title, i guess i should apologize or make up an excuse for not blogging….

but being the 16 year old emotional girl that i am, i’m just going to say that things have been stressssssful! :/

and blogging  has not become one of my top priorities i guess.

really important: i was invited to prom, but unfortunately when i went, something happened to my camera and the lens is now broken and doesn’t auto-focus, so some a lot of my photos have come out blurry and crappy :/ i’m gonna get it fixed asap! i just figured i should let you all know!

but on top of all the shitty things, two great things have come up!

1) i am now my class’s president for junior year next year! wooo!

2) i got an iphone! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!

so yeah. anyway i have purchased a ton of cute things recently that i felt like sharing, since that’s what i do when i feel forced to make a post to remind you i haven’t died yet! haha. they’re all non-modelled by me, since i look like shit and am not really in the mood to take pictures of myself [that's a first; jk]

this dress is what i wore on my 16th birthday. i am mad in love with it and i think it is the most beautiful thing ever!!

it’s from anthropologie. i don’t know. i just love it C: i also used the photo of me wearing it [from my 16th birthday] as my campaign picture when i ran for president! :D

i bought this amazing striped frost colored splendid henley online back in…january or february? it’s super soft!! it’s kind of long on me but regardless i still like it a lot. typical splendid quality, which is good!)

this next item i’m in LOVE with– it’s the maje hostie peter pan collar sweater! i saw it for like $300 on their website and really wanted it, but it was $300, so clearly i didn’t buy it, but then i saw it on eBay and got into a serious bidding war but ended up winning at like $90 (with  free shipping, yippiee!) considering it’s cashmere with real leather arms/collar, i think it’s worth it.

a REALLY long time ago, maybe back in july or so, i purchased the allsaints muses jumper, after oogling over it for almost a year..i love it, it’s really great! allsaints is a wonderful brand. the photos don’t really do the sweater justice, it’s a really artistic and well put together piece!

i bought these red houndstooth free people capris a few weeks ago on ebay. i really wanted them back in 2007/2008 when they  were in the free people catalog but never bought htem, and when i saw them on ebay i just had to have it! they are great!

i’m convinced free people started making their pants smaller. i can fit into these just fine but if i try on pants in the same size but in the current season of free people, it’s too small! x: weird

i’m going to  disneyland at the end of may for a band trip and i’m super stoked!! i saw this minnie mouse shirt and it was so adorable and cute that i decided i had to have it, even if i’m not quite at disneyland yet…c;

i visited h&m and bought these two delightful items; i think the sweater is some kind of lookalike of something selena gomez wore once. idk! my friend just told me it looked the same. i REALLY like the shirt!! it was great to find.

if you can’t read the shirt, it says “i’d walk across the wildest desert and deepest ocean just to kiss you one last time”. so cute!

i bought this blue free people barbary linen dress a few days ago. it is SO  cute!

don’t ask why, but i had been looking for these exact argyle socks for a million trillion years. i kept finding the right color but with a yellow line instead of pink, but i finally found the pink ones! it’s allllll about bein patient, haha.

and i bought this dotti sweater a really long time ago also, maybe october or something? i really liked it because of its creamy color, but mostly because of the 3 adorable buttons on the shoulder! i had been looking for a sweater like this for a long time and finally found this one after seeing it on le blog de sushi’s blog! she is lovely :)

so that is my giant haul for now!

i will try to get in another post soon, perhaps after i get back from disneyland, or sooner

SWEET 16TH JANUARY HAUL

so the 20th was my 16th birthday and it was a blast! even though i was really upset in my last post, things have taken a turn for the better, or at least for now.

i’m really scared that february will suck because i’m always ‘superstitious’ that bad things happen in february, but idk…so far things are okay.

here is a HUGE haul of all the things i bought after christmas that arrived in january in time for my birthday, plus some really old things i forgot to blog c:

super old from octoberish, but here is a free people rayon dot dress i bought off ebay for around $40. i really like it, but the waistband always rides up when i wear it because my torso is short, so i have difficulty styling it…any advice?

this is a pleated lace dress i bought from topshop with a low V back.
i’ve mentioned on my formspring a trillion times that i’ve always wished for this 3.1 phillip lim silk flower and pleat-embellished dress, but it’s $900, so…

but then i saw this lookalike on topshop that i was stalking in case it came back in my size, and luckily it did AND it was on sale for $35 when it used to be $75!! so i jumped to it and i’m glad i did, because it sold out immediately after!

on the site’s stock picture it was more of an ivory but in person it’s tanner. i like it either way tho!

this is a house of the gods shirt i bought from urban-eclectric! i saw it on miranda cosgrove and, as you all know very well now, i love her style and when i saw her wearing this i was dying to have it! they are the only site that carries it, and it was on sale, so i bought it :)
house of the gods is one of my new favorite shirt brands, their shirts are such great quality!

the shirt features deborah/debby/debbie harry, aka blondie!

next is a free people ‘we the free’ crocheted jersey shirt. it’s a cool orange color with crocheted sleeves, with little embellished(?) flower things. i really like it!! the black shirt underneath is also free people but i bought that over the summer XD the best part is, it was only $15 and it was originally $110 on the free people site! wooo.

i also bought this minnie mouse shirt from target as a sleep shirt. it’s slightly cropped but i bought it a few sizes larger so it fits loosely! whoopeeee!

my free gift from sephora for my birthday!! it’s a lip duo from the brand fresh. these are the best chapsticks i’ve ever used!! :)

and finally, one of the best purchases i’ve ever made: the lucky brand jeans canvas carry-all bag.
it is so perfect. and gorgeous. and sturdy and huge. i LOVE it. no words, people. no words.

and even though i’m going to make a separate post about my birthday and pics, here are the things my friends gave me as presents :)

okay, SUPER AWKWARD AND FUNNY STORY ABOUT THIS PICTURE!!!!
so one of my friends and i have the same birthday, and we basically became friends last year because we found that out. so sometimes at lunch when we’re bored we go to the library to watch SNL skits or jimmy fallon snippets because we’re really popular. and so i recently showed her the thank you notes segment of jimmy fallon and she LOVED IT! (who doesn’t!) and so i bought her this book and kept telling her i had a surprise present for her, and then randomly she told me she had a surprise present for me that was coming in the mail.

so then the monday after my birthday, we exchange presents, and mine is wrapped around the book but her present to me is wrapped in like 5 boxes so that i wouldn’t know what it was, and…

WE GOT EACH OTHER THE SAME THANK YOU NOTES BOOK BY JIMMY FALLON!

TROOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLOL. it was LEGIT the weirdest and stupidest thing that has ever happened to me. many lols were had that morning.

anyway. so one of my friends followed a collar tips DIY by honestly WTF and made me these cool pins that attach to your collar!! they look really awesome with my flannels.

everything i bought in december HAUL!!!

hey all! so i don’t really celebrate christmas or hanukkah or anything, so i figured this would count as my holiday/christmas haul. i kind of went crazy with shopping, but i didn’t actually do too much damage :D

i bought this hometown heroes OMG shirt that is originally from urban outfitters, from ebay for $18. i’ve just always really liked it, and it’s really soft. c: [awkward lighting, sorry]

i also bought this green free people hoodie from ebay! i used to want it when i was in like 6th grade, but i wasn’t allowed to buy free people things when i was in 6th grade…so when i saw it on ebay i was really happy!!

it’s kind of too long but it’s warm so i’m happy :D

i didn’t actually buy this shirt–it was anonymously gifted to me! long story short i didn’t have to pay for it. check it out, it’s a shirt of mick jagger of the rolling stones, by a brand i am now obsessed with called ‘house of the gods’. it’s such a cool shirt. it’s longer in the back than the front, which i’m not used to, but it’s a cool look. plus it was free! :D

after waiting month after i month, i finally bought this ‘blondie’ shirt from truffleshuffle! it’s a little bit big but overall i like it a lot.

truffleshuffle also threw in some candy! yay candy!

finally, my mom was out shopping in little boutique/knick knack/gift stores with me this past weekend and we stopped by a giftcard store that was selling adorable aprons.

one of my new year’s resolutions is to bake more; i’m ADDICTED to watching cake boss and next great baker, so i figured i should actually bake myself if i’m going to watch it on TV! so i saw this apron and i’m going to use it to inspire myself to bake. i’m on the lookout for a good red velvet cupcake mix that i can use for my first cupcakes…..let me know what you use, if you bake! :D

again, awesome lighting, i know……

anyway, i still have a ton more parcels coming my way but i will keep those for another post in a few weeks for MY BIRTHDAY!!

unfortunately i have finals the same week as my birthday so i will have to be studying for those :( i’m very happy with myself and how hard i have been working compared to last year, so i want to make sure i maintain good grades (especially in chemistry…damn!)

meg & wally mad love mr hearts tank top review!

hello readers! i hope you all had a lovely holiday–mine was very quiet but nice :)

recently i found out about an awesome new brand called mad love, which is an australian based brand that has the cutest graphic shirts ever!! their designs are very unique, and i can definitely see this brand catching on soon :) they’re a lot similar to wildfox couture and lauren moshi, in my opinion, which is why i love them!

so the shirt that i bought is called the ‘mr hearts circle tank’. here are some stock pictures!

i fell in love with it immediately. it’s so adorable! i also saw it in girls life magazine’s december 2011 issue on miranda cosgrove:

i thought i was doomed to find it, because since mad love is a fairly new brand they don’t sell their own items in a webshop [yet] and all of their carriers didn’t have this shirt in stock :( i was so sad. but then i happened to search ‘mr hearts tank’ and came across a little google search that led to a store called meg & wally, based in australia. eureka!! i thought it was too good to be true, but it was perfect because the last size they had in stock was an XS (a size AU 8).

i ended up paying $84 AUD for my shirt after shipping. the shipping was a bit much but i think it was still worth it.

i didn’t want to check out directly off the meg & wally site because whenever i tried to,  my bank company would keep trying to ‘activate’ my card and ask for my social security number which was frustrating. i emailed meg & wally and asked them if i could check out over the phone instead and they gladly agreed! unfortunately my phone was messing up and the international calling didn’t work, so instead they emailed me a form to type in my information and send back to them; they said they used to use this service before they had an online check out, so it was safe.

like i said above, meg & wally‘s customer service was super helpful, making checking out go swiftly. within moments of my email back to them with the information on the form filled out, they told me they would post my shirt out the same day! [this was on december 12, 2011]

shipping took quite a while–the parcel arrived on december 24, 2011 (christmas eve), and considering i paid $25 for shipping i was a little confused, but the package arrived in great shape so i don’t see a fault in it :)

the packaging. was. WAY TOO CUTE!!!!!! the actual bag they shipped it in was in that waterproof-plastic type material, and there was also a layer of transparent plastic as well. i opened the bag and it was like a christmas eve miracle!! the shirt was wrapped in brown paper with a  meg & wally sticker on it, followed by two ribbons wrapped around it, with another meg & wally logo card, and some candies and a tea packet. it’s SO CUTE!!

the shirt was kind of wrinkled when it arrived, but i blame the fact that it was in the packaging for two weeks, not because they didn’t do a good job folding it :)

WOW! the shirt is soooooooo soft. i can’t even explain it,  the cotton is so soft to the touch. the material is slightly stretch but since it’s a loose top i’m okay with it.

it fits like a dream! it was a little bit too loose at the arms; without a bandeau you can definitely see my bra. if there had been an XXS, i would have ordered it, but i definitely would not have gone with a S because it would have been far too big. unless i wanted a dress type fit, then it would have been fine :) (for the record, i got an XS)

free people haul + i won the glam gift basket giveaway?!?!

HEY GUYS!

so i’ve been doing tons of holiday shopping at free people recently!

i went in with my mom last week and bought a ring and a sweet cashmere sweater during their holiday glam event, where they had cookies, makeup artists, and tons of items on sale! i got the red deco stone ring for $20 (from $30) and a the riding hood cashmere cardigan in gray for $90 from $170!

pros and cons of each:

the cardigan’s button fell off, so i contacted free people and asked for an extra button since i didn’t get one when i bought it. but for god’s sake, i’m not rough with things that i buy–why would the button fall off? so dumb.

the ring is so gorgeous, but leaves a weird greenish gray residue if you wear it for too long. otherwise, cute!

so anyway. the free people i was at had a party thing, and it said if you bought a holiday dress you could be entered to be in a contest to win a huge gift basket. when we were paying, my mom and i thought it was so cute!

AND THEN! i went to free people after school yesterday with my friend, since it was a minimum 1:05 release day (school usually ends at 3:32, weird times, i know) and so i walk into the store looking for a sweater i saw online, and a girl approaches me. she asks if i had gone to the store last week during the holiday glam party. i was confused at first, but i nodded yes. then she tells me that i won their contest and they had drawn my name but i had already left, and they were about to choose a new winner but decided to wait for me to retrieve it.

SO EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!! the only thing is, i feel guilty because i didn’t actually buy a dress…i don’t think…o__O

oh well! free stuff! and i ended up buying the sweater that i wanted. tons of pics now! :D :D

i’m going to give the basket to my mom for christmas; she doesn’t know we actually won it so it’ll be surprising for her! <3

yesterday, after getting the goodie bag, i bought the marled yarn pullover in mocha–they told me a ton had just come in which was lucky because it’s sold out in every size online! eeeek!

it’s a really beuatiful brown-purple color. i was deciding between this or the roxy high low pullover in burgundy–it’s a similar sweater that is very soft, but the cut is a little higher.

i got an xtra small but i suppose i could have gone for a small if i wanted a drapey-er look. but i prefer fitted!

sorry for my mirror being so dirty! i’ll clean it, i swear.

this skirt is from loehmann’s, and it’s from BLANK NYC. it used to be $80 but i got it for $25! whee!

last but not least, the ring i bought! (i’ll post the cardigan later)

my la mer collections watch review!

hey everyone! i bought this awesome la mer watch over the summer in around late june/july, but never really thought to post or review about it! XD

la mer collections is an awesome company from , and they sell beautiful handcrafted leather watches. they are famous for the double wrap around style! my la mer watch is called the bali stud watch. for some reason,  i really like the brown/gold version (equally as much as brown/silver) <3

i generally don’t wear watches, but i bought it impulsively at one of my favorite stores, called therapy :) they have a great store in san francisco; check it out if you’re in the van ness area!

ANYWAY! so i bought this watch, and wore it consecutively over the summer for days on end. i even wore it during band camp in august, in the middle of nowhere, and it lasted and stayed strong throughout my entire rather rough journey.

unfortunately, the second week of school, i was sitting down in a circle to read macbeth in english and i hit my watch on the corner of a table and the strap broke in a weird way; thank god the actual watch wasn’t damaged, but if you can see those little bars above and below the watch face–it got unhooked and the leather strap FELL OUT.

so my friend was trying to help me fix it and we were so stupid and put in the metal part that had unhooked, but forgot to put the leather part on it first. so basically the metal part was in, and the leather part wasn’t. and we could NOT get it out.

so i check on the la mer site  and see if there is a warranty–luckily for me, there is! it’s under an automatic 2 year warranty from the day you purchase it (as of november 2011, at least!). i contacted them just in case, and asked if my damage was eligible, since technically i didn’t intentionally break it. they said there would be no fees to pay to have it fixed, and i didn’t even have to pay for return shipping!

i put it in the flat rate box, ready to be shipped for THREE MONTHS. but i got caught up in schoolwork and my messy room just covered up everything and the box was hidden from sight for quite some time. a few weeks ago my mom asks what the box is for and if it’s something i sold on ebay and never shipped, and as it turns out i had still not shipped my broken watch! she ships it for me [with tracking, just for safe measures] and within 5 business days i got it back, good as new, AND they included a free box that i was never given when i purchased it! (because i purchased it on the spot and it was on display instead of in one of those glass cases; perhaps the associates forgot to add it in).

anyway, i’m REALLY happy and it’s one of the best watches i’ve ever used–it doubles as a watch and a sweet bracelet, all my friends are super jealous, and besides my accident it’s actually really durable! i haven’t had any technical problems with it.

the only con is that the little end of the strap after you put it on your wrist is kind of banged up and starting to rip, which bothers me, but at the same time gives it a restless look ;)

i bought a new sweater that i love! it’s from a brand called elizabeth & james, and it’s called ‘kennedy! and it has pom pom things on it :) it retails for $225 at neiman marcus/saks fifth avenue/revolve clothing but i got it for $….less :), hooray ♥

if there’s one thing i splurge on, it’s outerwear…if sweaters count as outerwear, lol! knits, coats, and shoes. those are the essential items to splurge on. in general it’s good to keep in mind quality over quantity, or at least i do! :P

i just love it, it’s perfect for this random weather that has circulated in california! :( :(

i mostly took these because i wanted a new profile picture, but they weren’t really anything special so i decided to just post them here :D i feel like my head looks really big in some of these. ASLKDJFSKLDFJ!

PURPLE PATENT DR MARTENS!

I’M EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT I OFFICIALLY HAVE PURCHASED PURPLE PATENT DR MARTENS AND THEY HAVE ARRIVED!

i bought them off ebay in a nasty bidding war with a few other people, but thank god server bidder (an automatic bidder that bids when you’re not home/computer is off) bid on it within the last 3 seconds of the auction and i won them! :) i’m really happy, they’re beautiful and i’ve wanted them for a long time but dr marten doesn’t produce them in this colorway anymore :(

so anyway, it took some time to arrive because i won them 3 weeks ago but couldn’t pay till like last week, and they arrived thursday night (october 27th). it was a great surprise to see when i got home! they came from the UK!! :D PS, i have tons of homecoming photos to spam on here, which i’ll be doing after the dance tonight! yayy~!

ANYWAY photos. the only thing that annoys me is that the seller said her daughter wore them and it only had a few scratches, but there are a LOT of scratches at the tip :( i mean, i’ve had some of my docs for years and they don’t have any scratches–maybe a little bit of dust residue but no legit scratches!! oh well XD for the price i got them for, i guess it makes for it.

i’m super happy with them! can’t wait to wear them day in and day out ;)

embarassment + milky planet special set tiered skirt!

AAAAH SO EMBARASSING!!!

first things first: the photos may not be as big as usual if you click full size cuz i ran out of bandwidth on flickr. lol!

so in my last post i mentioned i would be in the school newspaper for my blog, which is awesome.

i forgot to mention that i was interviewed last friday for this style/fashion segment on the daily morning announcements.

so it airs today and it’s the most embarassing thing ever.

everyone answered really vaguely and quick response, but of course i HAD to blabber on and on.

to make things worse, they edited out the girl askin the questions so it just seemed like i was obsessed with talking about my clothes and opinion when really i was being asked :( it was so awkward.

i was like ‘oh i think the must have for this season is comfy coat or parka‘ (yeah, i HAD to say parka T_T no one knows what that is, apparently…) and then i was like ‘i got my shoes from nordstrom during their summer sale a few years ago, and my jacket is juicy but i got it from a thrift store in san francisco, i like it because it’s velvet and adds a pop of color’. god i regret saying all of that now, lol!

most of my friends at school thought it was cute or funny, but i got harassed (as a joke) all day today, when it aired.

every passing period at least one person would go ‘OMG I SAW YOU ON THE MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS LOL YOU’RE SO CUTE I WAS LAUGHING SOO HARD’, or my friends in band were like ‘sara took up 90% of the broadcasting time’ or ‘haha i get my shoes from nordstroms, noice one guysz’

i mean i’m not offended, i think it’s hilarious and i find it cool that everyone’s talking about it. sort of. well my classmates talk about it. yay! :)

ANYWAY! i got my milky planet pink tiered skirt in the mail today from lethalcute! SO HAPPY!

i remember i wanted to buy it in like 8th grade from juniorsweet, but i didn’t know how to use my paypal so i couldn’t afford it. i stalked a post on egl_comm_sales and noticed that lethalcute purchased it and i was like ‘oh if in the future you decide you don’t want it, just let me know!’ so she actually let me know like 2 weeks ago that she was looking to sell it and we settled on an affordable price for me, and it arrived in a mere two days!

amy [lethalcute] was REALLY sweet the entire transaction and was very patient when i was having paypal problems. i love her! thanks amy! <3
