fanime 2011; and what could have been.

hey everyone! this is just a post about how i WANTED  to go to fanime but ended up not. it’s sort of a rant post to get me away from studying for finals, which i wasn’t really doing anyway…but thats besides the point.

basically i was waiting all year since AX 2010 to go to fanime. i missed out so much last year with all the lolita events and stuff! so in january when i got my dream item, the dreamy dollhouse salopette, i knew i would wear it for fanime.

this did not happen.

why?

i have a friend i’ve known since 4th grade that i’ve gone to fanime 2008, 2009, and AX 2010 with. shes a real sweetheart and is extremely kind. but she is smart too. she knows when to ignore someone when she doesn’t want to speak with them. in this sense i mean if i IM her on aim with something she doesn’t care about, she merely does not respond. which happened to be the case.

i thought i could find a friend that would tag alone with me to go to fanime. being only 15, i was terrified of going myself. a bright pink, OTT, 15 year old sweet lolita walking among noob cosplayers and creepy men who don’t belong there didn’t sound like a joyride to me. [lack of better words...joyride...fail] anyway, so the friends i went to  the AP opening with couldn’t go because one had to study for finals and the other lived too far away  to drive down :/ so i resorted to asking my friend that i mentioned before. she said it would be fine if i went with her but mentioned that she would be with her friends/fans from deviantART, since she is a popular artist there. that makes sense and i honestly had no problem with it!

so i asked her what time and when. no. response.

a day later. what time and when. no. response.

i figured okay, i can just text her when i get there! no reply. maybe i should call her…bam. i realized that she got a new phone since we had gone to AX 2010, and never updated it since i don’t see her anymore. i sat awkwardly in the car for TWENTY MINUTES. just sitting. a bright pink lolita next to an angry asian mom who was complaining about how bad i was at planning stuff.

i was deciding whether i should pay $25 to just go because i know the shopping is fun, but i noticed there were literally no lolitas and tons of weird weeaboo teens. i mean it’s fanime, so what did i expect…but i decided against it.

on our way back, my mom needed to stop by macy’s to buy a coffee maker, so away we went.

most funny moment of my life!!!

i somewhat strutted through the perfume/makeup department, and tons of (what looked like) single 25 year old girls with snooki makeup, in which their eyeshadow extended to their eyebrows and beyond, stared in awe at me. i just lifted my chin up and continued to  the escalator. my mom and i scurried around the kitchen and appliances section until we found what we wanted. it was so funny seeing a lolita carrying a mini toaster, and that is all i have to say XD

that was my first time wearing lolita in a non-lolita environment though, and it was really interesting. on my way to the car, one of the makeup gurus who saw me earlier said ‘hi there, i love your outfit!’ as i passed by. i cutely said thanks, in a way that my voice sort of cracked LOL. and then on my way out, i didn’t dare turn around but it seemed like a mother and her 20 or so year old daughter were wondering if i was a doll, or a fairy, or a giant barbie. wrong. D. all of the above. HAHA!

so that’s my story of why i didn’t go to fanime. i’m really sad that i couldn’t do all the fun things and shop, but i PROMISE i will go next year. if i can’t, i think i will explode!! i’m aiming for saturday next year. saturday, and better planning! @__@

yule cake & midnight sleighride!

here’s the yule cake i got for christmas from my dad. LOLOLOL

one time in french club (in my french club we just eat free food) we ate yule cakes and i told my dad about it since my dad speaks french, so i guess…he bought one for me…HAHAHA!!

pretty cool. does anyone else think the deer’s eyes are….umm…creepy? O:

japanese eraser collection!

SO i was grounded on tuesday unfortunately for ‘attempting to run away from home’ when really i was trying to take a bus to a shopping mall…which i’d done before and is really safe ESPECIALLY at 11 AM. LOL. so i was forced to listen to horrible radio stations. i’ve memorized like the top 10 on itunes now. it sucks.

however, one radio called WiLD 94.9 is giving out $100 every hour if you have the ‘secret password’ that they tell you like 5 mins before the hour strikes. i wanted to enter but i didn’t have a computer or phone cuz my mom confiscated it. maybe i’ll enter tomorrow. but for anyone in the bay area; it’s every hour of december 2010 and they’re giving out $100. :D

ANYWAYS so back on topic, i got so bored and remembered that my friend ashlyn wanted to see my collection of erasers. so i pulled out my box that was in the corner of my desk and sorted them. surely they were a blast to play with.

i keep the erasers in a totoro box thing that i got…it was and is the only present i’ve ever gotten from my little brother. we were at a japanese book store, kinokuniya, and i wanted a totoro calendar really badly but my little brother was being a fuss face and demanded to get it for himself for no reason. so then for christmas he just put it in the box and gave it to me. he was…idk, 9? back when he was cute XD

these erasers i bought in packs at ichiban kan; a popular $1 store that used to be in san mateo, CA.

i was so afraid to use them; i think i still am! and…wow idk why that elephant is lurking in the corner there…it’s not part of the pack! HAHAHA!! but it’s still cute i guess.

(the hamster ones below are scented and say ‘CHIBI HAM’ on them! LOL! XD)

now the eraser stick thing on the left i got as a present in 5th grade; i wonder why i haven’t used it yet? O:

and the flip flops i got as a birthday goodie in 3rd grade.

i have this random one that does magic tricks? LOLOL

these are ALL of the underwater erasers i have. they’re all fishes. XD actually these were my brothers’ when they used to like them. the reason we have like 2 of everything is because my older brother bought a set but lost it, and bought another…and found the lost one. LOL. and some are misplaced but are seawater-esque so there.

my favorite set is definitely the dessert set. it’s so lolita and cute :)

the orange standing hamster and the 4 2D hamsters are the first ones i ever got when i was like 10.

all of the mini erasers below the frog/duck are from around 3rd grade. sushi is from my brother’s birthday party when i was in 3rd grade. the bunny with no arms and legs is from my friend in 7th grade HAHAHA!

wah…someone gave me the green one but i forget now! i’m so sorry! :(

these are random erasers or eraser toppings i got along my life.

most are from 2nd grade. the purple eraser is from 5th grade. that one has an interseting story XD

for our christmas presents in 5th grade, all the teachers put erasers in our cubbies. me and this guy named elyh were the only ones who got purple and everyone was really jealous. and the green one is an extra one i found that someone had lost i guess o__O

the one that says 40 on it is for some reason really soft…and it’s really good for erasing. my teacher gave us all little art kits that had crayons in them and these erasers were part of it.

the rainbow fail square erasers i got in 2nd grade at a book fair. i used them like heckkkkk haha.

and the hello kitty one on top is from when my mom subscribed to a hello kitty craft kit thing in some book fair magazine that i used to get at school. did anyone else get those? O: they like send you stuff monthly and you pay like $50? no? just me? eh.

and umm…these are random cute things i found in the box too ^_^

the blue monkey thing is an eraser topper and was given to me in 4th grade from this guy named winslow. haha.

and the pig keychain i used to have like 10 colors of, and it says oracle on it.

snoopy i used to put on my messenger tokidoki bag haha.

the dice is the sam story as the purple eraser- i was the only one who got cool dice, and everyone else got weird like 12 sided die O: (die! get it! plural of dice XD)

the dog patch i got at a scrapbooking store for my 4th grade birthday..

putty :) the dark pink one i got from MAIDO, where i got the rest of my sealife and food erasers, and it’s supposed to be peach smelling XD. the light pink and light blue ones are these hello kitty putties that my brothers used to like o__O LOLOLOL

the maido near me closed, so now they only have one in san francisco in the westfield and one at santana row in san jose. both equally far from me. -sighhhhhh-

and i got this penguin keychain from my friend mackenzie for christmas. i gave her a christmas ornament thing and she got me this. aah i love it. :]

OH! and not forgetting the ones i got from ashlyn (donut) and moments before diamond’s giveaway:
