hey everyone!

first things first–HAPPY 200TH POST TO ME!! :) i’ve had my blog since july 2010 and i sure have come a very, very long way!

anyway, the main content now: here is my entry for the soulstruck relive through this contest!

the contest is  to come up with a polyvore-esque set that includes a vintage song and a pair of their vintage shoes.

here is my fantastic entry for the ‘relive through this‘ contest hosted by soulstruck.com!

it is inspired by the 80′s hit ‘i get weak’ by belinda carlisle.

i wanted it to be a flirtly look with a hint of darkness.
for the vintage shoes, i chose number 183; woven toe nude pump, because i really liked the matte color with the accented toes. to add more color to the look, since they are nude shoes, i threw in some slouchy gray socks.

PURPLE PATENT DR MARTENS!

I’M EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT I OFFICIALLY HAVE PURCHASED PURPLE PATENT DR MARTENS AND THEY HAVE ARRIVED!

i bought them off ebay in a nasty bidding war with a few other people, but thank god server bidder (an automatic bidder that bids when you’re not home/computer is off) bid on it within the last 3 seconds of the auction and i won them! :) i’m really happy, they’re beautiful and i’ve wanted them for a long time but dr marten doesn’t produce them in this colorway anymore :(

so anyway, it took some time to arrive because i won them 3 weeks ago but couldn’t pay till like last week, and they arrived thursday night (october 27th). it was a great surprise to see when i got home! they came from the UK!! :D PS, i have tons of homecoming photos to spam on here, which i’ll be doing after the dance tonight! yayy~!

ANYWAY photos. the only thing that annoys me is that the seller said her daughter wore them and it only had a few scratches, but there are a LOT of scratches at the tip :( i mean, i’ve had some of my docs for years and they don’t have any scratches–maybe a little bit of dust residue but no legit scratches!! oh well XD for the price i got them for, i guess it makes for it.

i’m super happy with them! can’t wait to wear them day in and day out ;)

gonna be in the school newspaper in a few weeks!! excited for that :DDDDD

BTSSB Giant Pink Gingham Headbow - $40 $32 + $6 shipping OBO
had a previous owner who wore it once for a photoshoot, i think.
i have never worn it, i kind of  bought it out of pressure, unsure of if it would match my dress or not (the rose gingham OP in pink).
it matches perfectly, but as you can tell i don’t look too great in headbows because my bangs are strange and i don’t have any wigs to help with the styling XD
so here it goes to a new home!
i would say the only defect is at the BTSSB tag–there’s a string of thread coming out of the bottom right, but it can be trimmed, and doesn’t affect any part of the headbow.

fanime 2011; and what could have been.

hey everyone! this is just a post about how i WANTED  to go to fanime but ended up not. it’s sort of a rant post to get me away from studying for finals, which i wasn’t really doing anyway…but thats besides the point.

basically i was waiting all year since AX 2010 to go to fanime. i missed out so much last year with all the lolita events and stuff! so in january when i got my dream item, the dreamy dollhouse salopette, i knew i would wear it for fanime.

this did not happen.

why?

i have a friend i’ve known since 4th grade that i’ve gone to fanime 2008, 2009, and AX 2010 with. shes a real sweetheart and is extremely kind. but she is smart too. she knows when to ignore someone when she doesn’t want to speak with them. in this sense i mean if i IM her on aim with something she doesn’t care about, she merely does not respond. which happened to be the case.

i thought i could find a friend that would tag alone with me to go to fanime. being only 15, i was terrified of going myself. a bright pink, OTT, 15 year old sweet lolita walking among noob cosplayers and creepy men who don’t belong there didn’t sound like a joyride to me. [lack of better words...joyride...fail] anyway, so the friends i went to  the AP opening with couldn’t go because one had to study for finals and the other lived too far away  to drive down :/ so i resorted to asking my friend that i mentioned before. she said it would be fine if i went with her but mentioned that she would be with her friends/fans from deviantART, since she is a popular artist there. that makes sense and i honestly had no problem with it!

so i asked her what time and when. no. response.

a day later. what time and when. no. response.

i figured okay, i can just text her when i get there! no reply. maybe i should call her…bam. i realized that she got a new phone since we had gone to AX 2010, and never updated it since i don’t see her anymore. i sat awkwardly in the car for TWENTY MINUTES. just sitting. a bright pink lolita next to an angry asian mom who was complaining about how bad i was at planning stuff.

i was deciding whether i should pay $25 to just go because i know the shopping is fun, but i noticed there were literally no lolitas and tons of weird weeaboo teens. i mean it’s fanime, so what did i expect…but i decided against it.

on our way back, my mom needed to stop by macy’s to buy a coffee maker, so away we went.

most funny moment of my life!!!

i somewhat strutted through the perfume/makeup department, and tons of (what looked like) single 25 year old girls with snooki makeup, in which their eyeshadow extended to their eyebrows and beyond, stared in awe at me. i just lifted my chin up and continued to  the escalator. my mom and i scurried around the kitchen and appliances section until we found what we wanted. it was so funny seeing a lolita carrying a mini toaster, and that is all i have to say XD

that was my first time wearing lolita in a non-lolita environment though, and it was really interesting. on my way to the car, one of the makeup gurus who saw me earlier said ‘hi there, i love your outfit!’ as i passed by. i cutely said thanks, in a way that my voice sort of cracked LOL. and then on my way out, i didn’t dare turn around but it seemed like a mother and her 20 or so year old daughter were wondering if i was a doll, or a fairy, or a giant barbie. wrong. D. all of the above. HAHA!

so that’s my story of why i didn’t go to fanime. i’m really sad that i couldn’t do all the fun things and shop, but i PROMISE i will go next year. if i can’t, i think i will explode!! i’m aiming for saturday next year. saturday, and better planning! @__@

hey all! let’s get right to it.

a few weeks ago, i won a twitter contest hosted by purseblog.com and talkshoes.com, pretty self explanatory. the contest was to submit a photo of either your purse or shoes every monday for a chance  to win a $25 amazon giftcard! and the week i entered happened to be tax monday so they bumped the prize up to $50! exciting.

i was SO happy when talkshoes told me i won the featuremyshoes contest! and i was 2nd runner up for the featuremybag contest :D

ANYWAY! so on to the SHOES!

i was on haight ashbury the other day (in SF) and i happened by the dr martens store and saw the love of my life ; low top mint dr martens. EXCELLENT! and i remembered that i had a $50 amazon giftcard…so i bought them off amazon, it was like fate; my size was the last one available :D

now, the store that i bought it from is some store called ‘planet shoes’. i am unhappy with them.

why? because they took a long time to ship my shoes, and the box it came in with TERRIBLE.

i ordered april 26, it shipped april 28, and arrived may 4th. now, for amazon, i think that’s pretty slow. i’ve had previous experiences with amazon and they’ve shipped everything extremely fast, so what is this?! at least the tax and shipping was free, so i give them credit for that.

but look at this. what the SHIT is this?!?! i thought a timebomb went off in this!

YES, it was OPEN when i received it. this was taken 5 minutes after i had brought it inside.

do you know what that shoe print represents? a fatass STEPPING ON MY PACKAGE.

to make it worse, they didn’t even put it any paper to secure it. i get that it’s shoes and it’s a little more durable than clothing but seriously. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO MY PRECIOUS BOX :( LIKE WHAT?!

for the most part, the shoes are unaffected…

…EXCEPT…STUPID BLACK MARKING ON THE SIDE…it’s REALLY faint but still. what the hell?

i drew a faint red circle around it.

anyway, it’s not that bad  but for an officially lisenced store, that’s pretty low.

i definitely love these shoes though. dr martens are and always will be some of the best made shoes out there that won’t cost you more than $200 (on average). i’m already jumpstarting my dr martens collection and i hope that i’ll find some even cooler ones in the future! :D

GIANT BIRTHDAY MONTH HAUL; PART ONE!

hey everyone!! i finally received all of the items that i won or bought this month, along with a collection of the things i purchased throughout this month. :D

in the beginning of january i got my free bracelet from the TOMS website ^_^

i’m giving it to my guy friend who is obsessed with TOMS though. i’ll just order another! ;D

i put it on hobbes’ head. :]

i also ‘won’ one of mirukuma‘s contests by being the first commenter, woo hoo!

i won a beautiful necklace, nail arts, and rilakkuma paper, yay~

there are glitters on the lollipop! ;D

unfortunately, the week of my birthday (january 20) was the week of finals, as i said in my old posts.

they went…eh…pretty well. here is my bio notecard.

and other other side…

i didn’t even end up doing that good on the test. booo. i still got a passing grade though so yay.

this was just a random photo i took! i reorganized my desk–there used to be a white box filled with clothing tags here but i likey me some madeline :] i’ve had this since i was born practically. my life <3

OH and i won wristcuffs from sweet indeed! they are ADORABLEEEEE!!! i’ve never owned wristcuffs so these were a great first and free pair ;D they are really well made and soft~

don’t mind the algebra homework…but hey, at least the colors look nice.

i also got a free giant sticker/postcard thing! hehe another thing for my wallllll :] there’s a cute note on the back too  but i didn’t feel like taking a pic of it.

also, i finally found a way to shrink my bangle thanks for boiling hot water! i have posts about it here and here XD now it doesn’t slip and slide when i wear it and it gets more use! :D

i finally went to sephora to get my birthday gift and finally get the primer i wanted!

they didn’t have the SPF foundation from laura mercier in my shade or i would have totes bought that :/

anyway, if you are in need of a primer and you have somewhat T zone oily skin GET THIS. it is so great.

the shampoo/body wash/bubble bath thing smells so good, its like vanilla cake! it’s decent sized for a free gift, too :] dont you love the sparkles…i know you do. ;]

this is a gift i picked up at the nijiya market! it’s so cute, cookie-shaped hello kitty keychains!

i got mimi. i wish i got my melody </3 oh well, i’m gonna buy another one and test my luck!

i also went to anthropologie! ohohoho sales!

i got this gorgeous and soft off white cardigan for $39.99. the original price wasn’t on the tag :/

BLACK FRIDAY HAUL! ★

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY FOR…idk like a week :)

i was kinda upset because i didnt know where i was gonna go for black friday, or if i was even going to go! but i begged and pleaded until my mom decided she would take me :D

it was pretty interesting. basically, we drove all the way past the SFO airport, just to find that we missed the BART station. so, we drove back 2 miles to use it and missed parking blah dee blah. 10 mins later we walk into the BART station and find out that two round tickets to powell street (union square, san francisco) and back was 8.50, and it was my mom and i so practically $20! it was pretty annoying and we didn’t want to lug our bags everywhere too, so we ended up just driving and paying for parking. luckily, the macy’s parking had a $15 early bird special for those leaving before 7 PM, so that was good; and less than BART.

i mostly wanted to go to angelic pretty because i knew there’d be lucky packs, but as we [my mom and i] made our way over, we ran into so many cool sceneries! we saw the luxury alleyway with the chanel and betsey johnson, as well as guccy, giogio armani, giant levi’s, and way more that i can’t even remember. we walked into burberry and rock & republic; both having good sales, but it seemed like they were just trying to empty their inventory or something. R&R was having 80% off the entire store! :P

next we hit ZARA! zara was really fun. i immediately found tons of things i wanted in the mere 5 mins i had entered. i was surprised to see that there were 2 3 FOUR floors! i went upstairs and found the juiniors/children’s department thing. and tried on some clothes, and decided on four that i wanted…i wanted more, but i can’t have everything! D:

we continued down the street, not really paying attention to what was around us, and finally hit 15 kearny street; sound familiar? YES! angelic pretty of course! the window display was the same, the inventory was the same; only the fact that it wasn’t jam packed was different. i ran into the store all happy and skipping, but my mom stayed outside and admired the window display. it was completely different than BABY, that’s for sure. she came in the store and told me she liked the shoes, and that i should try them on. lucky they were my size too! a bit big, but better big than small right? O: so i try on the red shoes, and as cute and cupcakey as they are, they just seem too bold. and the white would get dirty. and the brown and black ones? too…awkward? so i try on light pink .AAAAAAAAAAAH it was cute! the shoes have platforms so you feel in control but at the same time really light, since they’re made of wood. i immediately knew i wanted it. the adorable cashiers did a great job wrapping up everything really carefully, and gave me the choice of a patterned tote bag or one that said san francisco on it. i wanted the patterned one originally, but i knew that once they stopped giving out novelty items, people would want the san francisco one more. so i took that one :D and they started stamping me a new card but when they were halfway finished i realized that i already  had one! XD by the time we’d gotten there, the LPs were long sold out…sadness. but the cashier told me ‘they sold out in like, 5 seconds! XD’ so that’s all good. i’m not crazy for them anyway.

i’m not gonna reveal the prices of my lolita shoes, since they were my personal splurge. kthx! >_>

next…we were starving; it was about 3PM and we had drove down at 12 (arrived at 1?) so we turned the corner at the end of kearny street and ate at a great hong kong chinese restaurant. honestly, i’m half taiwanese, but the best chinese food is hands down hong kong style. i just had west lake soup (my favorite!) and some fried rice. is it just me, or does anyone else hate the awkward feeling of trying to finish your drink in a restaurant when your parents tell you to and you absolutely can’t? that always happens to me. maybe they poison it or something. @__@

afterwards, we walked past a few cute stores; a children’s store called MURIK, and paul smith. we continued down the street, empty as it was. we made our way to virgin megastore, diesel, the 3 store juicy couture, and we didn’t go inside but we saw the disney store. we also saw the BARNEY’s store which used to be the old FAO, and my mom told me how she used to take me there as a youngin’ and i’d go batshit for toys :) i wish i remembered–i wish it was still there. i’ve gone to the one in NYC  but still! :(

anyways, after walking for like 10 minutes fully bloated from chinese food, we entered anthropologie where it was scorching inside. the sales were insane but great, and i found a wonderful blazer and cargo pants; however the cargo pants were really expensive and i wasn’t really loving them so i didn’t get them XD and my mom wanted to buy so many cute dresses but they were all defected! nooo. D; but that was fun. we spent like 2 hours in anthro, alone! the decor is so cute too; all the christmas trees and dollhouses were made out of scraps of sweaters. i think it’s so creative! :D

after that, we quickly went to urban outfitters where it was burning as well. the store is huge. you enter the main/middle floor with apartment goods, or and either go down to the men’s and down ANOTHER floor to men’s. OR go up from the main floor and see shoes, or go up another flight of stairs to women’s. insanity. my mom was deadbeat so she sat on the shoes level, and allowed me to go shop. i quickly made my roundabouts because i felt guilty for making my mom tired, but i found her a jacket that she’d wanted since 2 years ago from modcloth that used to not be in style…but i guess navajo is hitting it big this year and more stores started carrying it. i saw a record vinyl from the XX that i really wanted but i dont have a record player NOR do i have space in my room to hang it so i just let it go. i didn’t see a cheeseburger phone either, which i really wanted, but i DID find a keith haring shirt that was out of stock online, as well as a polar bear sweater that i’ve wanted. so i was very content.

finally, we made our way home (sadface!) but we stopped at nordstrom rack on our way. i didn’t buy much; just leggings, but i wanted to  buy a free people hoodie thing. but my mom
was upset that i bought a ‘silly’ polar bear sweater for fifty bucks and didn’t wanna spend another fifty, which i understood. soooo that went right along. all denim was 30% off, but it was either size 23 (insanely skinny…) or fat people sized, so i just wandered in circles looking for my mom. until…like an hour later XD

it doesn’t sound like a lot, but to me it was, and i got to spend a lot of time with my mom which is always good. i’m already really close with my mom, but still it was fun. and while we were driving home, she started playing a chinese song i used to listen to a lot when i was little…and even though it’s called red bean (which is a popular dessert in asia), it still makes me really happy/sad inside when i hear it. video is below. happy thanksgiving to my…few readers out there!
