fanime 2011; and what could have been.

hey everyone! this is just a post about how i WANTED  to go to fanime but ended up not. it’s sort of a rant post to get me away from studying for finals, which i wasn’t really doing anyway…but thats besides the point.

basically i was waiting all year since AX 2010 to go to fanime. i missed out so much last year with all the lolita events and stuff! so in january when i got my dream item, the dreamy dollhouse salopette, i knew i would wear it for fanime.

this did not happen.

why?

i have a friend i’ve known since 4th grade that i’ve gone to fanime 2008, 2009, and AX 2010 with. shes a real sweetheart and is extremely kind. but she is smart too. she knows when to ignore someone when she doesn’t want to speak with them. in this sense i mean if i IM her on aim with something she doesn’t care about, she merely does not respond. which happened to be the case.

i thought i could find a friend that would tag alone with me to go to fanime. being only 15, i was terrified of going myself. a bright pink, OTT, 15 year old sweet lolita walking among noob cosplayers and creepy men who don’t belong there didn’t sound like a joyride to me. [lack of better words...joyride...fail] anyway, so the friends i went to  the AP opening with couldn’t go because one had to study for finals and the other lived too far away  to drive down :/ so i resorted to asking my friend that i mentioned before. she said it would be fine if i went with her but mentioned that she would be with her friends/fans from deviantART, since she is a popular artist there. that makes sense and i honestly had no problem with it!

so i asked her what time and when. no. response.

a day later. what time and when. no. response.

i figured okay, i can just text her when i get there! no reply. maybe i should call her…bam. i realized that she got a new phone since we had gone to AX 2010, and never updated it since i don’t see her anymore. i sat awkwardly in the car for TWENTY MINUTES. just sitting. a bright pink lolita next to an angry asian mom who was complaining about how bad i was at planning stuff.

i was deciding whether i should pay $25 to just go because i know the shopping is fun, but i noticed there were literally no lolitas and tons of weird weeaboo teens. i mean it’s fanime, so what did i expect…but i decided against it.

on our way back, my mom needed to stop by macy’s to buy a coffee maker, so away we went.

most funny moment of my life!!!

i somewhat strutted through the perfume/makeup department, and tons of (what looked like) single 25 year old girls with snooki makeup, in which their eyeshadow extended to their eyebrows and beyond, stared in awe at me. i just lifted my chin up and continued to  the escalator. my mom and i scurried around the kitchen and appliances section until we found what we wanted. it was so funny seeing a lolita carrying a mini toaster, and that is all i have to say XD

that was my first time wearing lolita in a non-lolita environment though, and it was really interesting. on my way to the car, one of the makeup gurus who saw me earlier said ‘hi there, i love your outfit!’ as i passed by. i cutely said thanks, in a way that my voice sort of cracked LOL. and then on my way out, i didn’t dare turn around but it seemed like a mother and her 20 or so year old daughter were wondering if i was a doll, or a fairy, or a giant barbie. wrong. D. all of the above. HAHA!

so that’s my story of why i didn’t go to fanime. i’m really sad that i couldn’t do all the fun things and shop, but i PROMISE i will go next year. if i can’t, i think i will explode!! i’m aiming for saturday next year. saturday, and better planning! @__@

sweet things giveaway from stacywahhh!

HEY GUYS!

a long long time ago i won stacywahhh‘ssweet things giveaway, exciting! i only got it last week though, because of a lot of mix ups and stuff + the japan earthquake, etc. but it’s finally here and i thought i’d share!

the reason it took so long to post was because i use the same type of boxes as stacy apparently (flat rate boxes) and i thought that i had sent a package out and put my address in the TO box and theirs in the FROM, so i was really annoyed that i had to pay extra shipping, but then i realized that the way my name was written on the box was different because the a’s looked like traditional a‘s and not the type i write that look like A (gahhhh how weird) so yeah! hooray!

GIANT BIRTHDAY MONTH HAUL; PART ONE!

hey everyone!! i finally received all of the items that i won or bought this month, along with a collection of the things i purchased throughout this month. :D

in the beginning of january i got my free bracelet from the TOMS website ^_^

i’m giving it to my guy friend who is obsessed with TOMS though. i’ll just order another! ;D

i put it on hobbes’ head. :]

i also ‘won’ one of mirukuma‘s contests by being the first commenter, woo hoo!

i won a beautiful necklace, nail arts, and rilakkuma paper, yay~

there are glitters on the lollipop! ;D

unfortunately, the week of my birthday (january 20) was the week of finals, as i said in my old posts.

they went…eh…pretty well. here is my bio notecard.

i didn’t even end up doing that good on the test. booo. i still got a passing grade though so yay.

this was just a random photo i took! i reorganized my desk–there used to be a white box filled with clothing tags here but i likey me some madeline :] i’ve had this since i was born practically. my life <3

OH and i won wristcuffs from sweet indeed! they are ADORABLEEEEE!!! i’ve never owned wristcuffs so these were a great first and free pair ;D they are really well made and soft~

don’t mind the algebra homework…but hey, at least the colors look nice.

i also got a free giant sticker/postcard thing! hehe another thing for my wallllll :] there’s a cute note on the back too  but i didn’t feel like taking a pic of it.

also, i finally found a way to shrink my bangle thanks for boiling hot water! i have posts about it here and here XD now it doesn’t slip and slide when i wear it and it gets more use! :D

i finally went to sephora to get my birthday gift and finally get the primer i wanted!

they didn’t have the SPF foundation from laura mercier in my shade or i would have totes bought that :/

anyway, if you are in need of a primer and you have somewhat T zone oily skin GET THIS. it is so great.

the shampoo/body wash/bubble bath thing smells so good, its like vanilla cake! it’s decent sized for a free gift, too :] dont you love the sparkles…i know you do. ;]

this is a gift i picked up at the nijiya market! it’s so cute, cookie-shaped hello kitty keychains!

i got mimi. i wish i got my melody </3 oh well, i’m gonna buy another one and test my luck!

i also went to anthropologie! ohohoho sales!

i got this gorgeous and soft off white cardigan for $39.99. the original price wasn’t on the tag :/

i also bought these ADORABLE pink clog heels for $70, from $150!

dolly wink #2 and liquid eyeliner + review! AND home alone shirts!?

there’s seriously nothing better than a quick trip to nijiya :) (japanese market).

i finally convinced my mom to get me new eyelashes! and liquid eyeliner.

although it wasn’t cheaper than buying online; more convenient, but not cheaper. $17.99 each -o-

the eyelashes feel so real! it’s scary! D: i had to trim them too, which i felt guilty about for some reason…

the liquid eyeliner goes on really smoothly though. they’re both adorable!

^ so delicate! :D

v tsubasa! so cute! we’ll start with the eyeliner first.

it’s in a cute package, slightly thicker than the pencil eyeliner, and it has purple lettering rather than black. the cap is similar to a crayola marker cap XD it snaps!

VERY delicate at the tip, like a japanese calligraphy pen ^o^

no, that’s not a deformed..mole on my hand? i tested the brush stroke and it absorbed into the creases on the back of my hand. oOoOOOOoOOoOO!!! O:

i used an instruction book they had for free to guide me! if you’d like to buy one it’s in my shop :D :D :D be quick! there’s only one! O:

it comes with all the models for the 8 different eyelashes, and a tutorial on how to use both eyeliners (liquid and pencil) and how to apply the lashes properly ;) and an intro from tsubasa. ee!

anyway, on to how it turned out! i already have thick eyelashes from my iranian dad, but then they don’t curl up from my taiwanese mom. sigh! so these eyelashes look extra dramatic. and my eye looks really brown o__O

better lighting *o* as you can see, the left is really super dramatic and the right is completely bare. you can see that my eyelashes don’t really lift, but they’re really dark >_< and curlers make it look awkward! or maybe my eyelash curler is just really bad >.>

gah! i’m not used to looking at such long lashes on myself! LOLOLOLOLOLOL! :D

i know, i’m kind of nooby at applying the lashes and i put it too far away. but i’m trying! i’m learning!

for those of you who ONLY want to see how the liquid eyeliner looks, look below XD

this is after i took off the eyelashes so it looks less dramatic, but it’s a really great brush and i recommend getting it :) although i think if you’re deciding between dolly wink brushes and sephora, sephora is better XD i just didn’t have a liquid eyeliner so i chose this one.

ON ANOTHER NOTE! WHO LIKES HOME ALONE? NOW THEY SELL T-SHIRTS!

ANGELIC PRETTY SAN FRANCISCO OPENING!

I ATTENDED THE ANGELIC PRETTY SAN FRANCISCO OPENING!! ^_^

the hotel wasn't that old, but had a cute old theme!

it was insane!

i dont know where to begin! so i’ll start from that morning. i stayed at the sir francis drake hotel next to saks fifth avenue. my friend hollyn woke up at 5:45 to get ready…me? at 7:15 LOL im so lazy D:

hollyn helped curl my hair for the first time! (i don’t usually because i already have curly hair…) and also put in dolly wink #6 bottom lashes! i lost one in the carpet but it’s okay XD i teased her hair, too.

only a FEW of the lolitas in line!

we went down to eat breakfast at 8:45; i got a lot of crazy stares, but a nice old lady politely asked what the cause was and we politely told her it was for a new japanese fashion store opening. she said she’d seen some others, so my friend and i felt slightly better! come to think of it…i felt like everyone was only asking me questions! (like when we were in line). maybe because i’m only 14, and less intimidating? but they would come directly to me O:

 

two girls from LA

at 9:30 we had arrived in line after a brief 3-4 block walk to 15 Kearny Street that literally took 6 minutes. the outside of the shop looked awful; no sign, no decorations. the lovely girls behind me in line said that it was the type of store that ‘only you know about and you tell your friends and they don’t really like it.’ there were already probably 30 people in front of us; NOT including the few who came extra early for the tickets to come back! (which was maybe 10 or 20 people?) the girls behind us were getting bored with me and hollyn, and said they were from LA. we talked about how they should open stores in LA and NY too. the girl in miracle cake (light blue) was teaching hollyn and i how to shop in rodeo and get good service; ‘pretend you’re looking for a party dress and that $3000 isn’t a lot. look at the seams and snootily tell them it’s cheaply made, and they’ll offer you champagne and velor chairs to sit in; works like a charm!’ i wasn’t sure of their names, but i know naomi (the one in pink) has a blog here!

while waiting in line, some douchebag from above decided he wanted to start drama by throwing food. at first, i thought it was just trash on the ground, but later i overheard a lolita say ‘did someone just throw an orange at me?’ immediately, i told her that i thought people had been pelting food from above. it got a lot worse; he/she was pelleting GRAPES! :( i didn’t get hit, but it got on my shoes. we all moved under the overhang and took out our umbrellas.

i couldn’t deal with the bull, so the lolitas behind me in line came to a consensus and...I CALLED THE POLICE! that’s right! first time ever having to do that! the man eventually threw rubber gloves filled with water, but completely missed because his IQ is 5. the police came by but were looking in the wrong building at first…the pelter stopped for about an hour because he could see the police car, but later threw a few more things. it was pretty funny; me and some other lolitas got REALLY into the fight! we were verbally assaulting him ^_^

anyway, the store was supposed to open at 11 AM but they needed and extra ’15-20 mins’ which turned out to be 40. the store only allowed 20 people at a time, and for every 1 person who left, 2 would go in. so this pretty much took forever. luckily, my friend athena, who at first couldn’t make it, arrived! i was really happy. we took tons of pics of everyone around us! :)

by 12:30, we were in the very front of the line, and saw some interesting things. one asian lady asked us to be models for her japanese blog? i’m not sure exactly; shes supposed to email me about it later O: and we saw a kind old man with a really vintage camera! we also waved to the tons of chinese people riding the bus LOL. some waved back…!

we finally got in by 1:00. and boy, was it a let down…the decorations were lame; the only sign was taped to the window, the clothes weren’t that cute (or at least, the ones left after 2 hours weren’t D: ) hollyn’s dad, who drove me home, explained that AP must have wanted to open by black firday/christmas to make a lot of money and thats why the store looked sorta crappy. he also explained that the only reason there weren’t any good prints was because they probably wanted to show unpopular clothes because they KNEW that most people in line would make an impulse buy. if that makes sense? i hope they do import cuter clothes though, like jewelry jelly! @__@ i can agree that most made an impulse buy; i bought a really cute brown beret!

hollyn spent over $200 and got the 3rd to last invite; or so i thought. turns out it wasn’t buy the number of people who spent over $200; it was just anybody who did. but hollyn got a fancy one, wheras my friend austine got a ghetto hand written one LOL!

i hope she has fun, and maybe she will have pics :) overall the store was pretty small and not that jam packed; definitely not comparable to the new people mall opening (BABY opening). but still really fun and the 4  hour wait was not that miserable!

i’m glad it didn’t rain!

disneyland, BTSSB lucky pack, and more!

jesus, what a weekend! i don’t know how to start. thursday evening i went to my friend abby‘s house, and met her new puppy. they haven’t decided on a name yet, but the one most people in her family agree on is layla. i like that one the most :) for a baby bernard, it’s adorable!
so at 5am on friday morning we had to get up to catch a 7:15AM flight to long beach, since we were heading for disneyland in anaheim! it was only an hour flight, but compared to an 8 hour drive it was worth it. i felt kind of sick at first, it being so early and the plane was so small…only 25 rows! so i had a minor headache which went away after we landed.
i can’t even describe what we did in disneyland. we went on practically all of the fun rides…we didn’t have time to go to toontown though. i went on california screamin for the first time, along with thunder mountain. i didn’t like cali screaming but i loved thunder mountain! i thought i would be afraid of space mountain, because i was last month when i went briefly, but it was a lot more fun.
we stayed at the grand california hotel, which is one super nice hotel. we got tons of coupons for things such as preferred seating, free lanyard and pin for the strange pin trading thing disneyland has, and also a private entrance to california adventure and downtown disney, along with tons of other things. and also, fastpass…:D
i had the greatest waffles ever. if you ever go to disneyland BE SURE to try the mickey shaped waffles. my goodness.
i actually wore my minnie dress on sunday too…even though i’m 14! i had to tell the ticketing ladies that i was 12, and i was fine. i had to even wear my dress to the airport, eek that was so embarassing lol! i didn’t get to meet minnie though! since i couldn’t go to toontown :( but i went on a lot of rides so i’m pretty happy.

so, things i bought? well, the kitson kids store in downtown disney was really exciting and i wish i could have bought the store. but i settled on a kitson edition uglydoll that you can only buy there…since i love uglydolls :) his/her name is ket! there was a night time version too, which was blue, but i prefer the regular one :D

i also bought my little brother an adorable goofy hat. i wanted to buy him this cute toy tigger, but i was too poor…since my debit card is still broken! by that, i mean when i try to buy with it, it reads ‘invalid’. so i was left with $100 – $20 uglydoll – $25 goofy hat which leaves me with $65. which brings me to my next and last buy, which were minnie mouse slippers! i’ve decided my favorite character is not bambi or thumper anymore, but it’s minnie mouse! (sorry pooh, i love ya but i’m gonna go with the classics for now.) so that was another good $25. it took me a while to find them since i needed a small and i assume little kids wanted these slippers so their parents had to buy them size small. i originally found these at the world of disney in downtown disney but found my size at the ‘emporium’ store on main street in disneyland. aah i sound like a disney nerd…i’m not! haha. so $65 – $25 leaves me with $40 which was spent on ice cream, sodas, a really bad frozen lemonade DRINK when i really wanted the ICE CREAM kind, and caramel apple. it was the first caramel apple i’ve ever had in my life! but man it was good…except i only ate like a few bites of it since it was messing up my braces D:

anyway, blah blah blah rides walking hurting legs etc. then we arrive at our destination and i find tons of little gifts for me; first off, my mom went to a jewelry show of one of my family friends and  bought me a blue flowerly necklace. it’s handmade and it’s really pretty. i didn’t bother asking how much it was considering it was a gift…xD

AND the ponyo keychain that i ordered came. i bought one in japan last august, but my mom gave it to my friend a few weeks later when the new people mall in san francisco opened, which is like a japanese fashion mall in SF. i was sorta devastated because i really like it, and so i finally found one on amazon and it came super fast. it’s so cute, and it’s pretty rare! i think there’s only one more on amazon and a few on dreamkitty.com..but dreamkitty has really expensive shipping so be careful!

and last but most definitely not least, my mom was super kind and dropped by the BABY THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT lolita fashion store in new people mall and picked up a lucky pack. a lucky pack is…a ‘blind box’ bag that contains 4-5 times more than what you pay kind of? so you might get a dress, blouse, and socks (lolita, of course) which is worth 500-600 dollars but you pay $140. so my mom went by and had the sales associate pick out one based on which fits me (size M, since japanese sizes run small, and light/sweet colors in sweet lolita.) my mom opened it before me but she laid everything out on my bed upon my return! so nice XD

and i am SO HAPPY! i got the snow dot bunny set!!! each lucky pack is different, and in some cases it can suck badly. but i love mine! my mom picked bag #20 since my birthday is january 20 (my mom always picks things on my birthday, even like lotto tickets! and most of the time she wins like $20…exciting much?!) the bag is to the left. i never throw away the bags. some people even collect them O:

SO the first  thing i see is hanging on my door, and it’s the mint necklace~! it looks/feels like a piece of candy aah it’s so cute! it can be worn casually too! and on top of the heart is the BABY logo :)

next was a white…nightgown, it seems? it’s not really my favorite but still cute, and i think my mom really likes it..but if she ends up not, i’ll just sell it to someone who really does want it.

next was a …bonnet o__O i’ve never really worn headdresses when in lolita so i thought this was really hilarious. it looks cute though! and it matches the ‘jumper skirt’ that i got. yep that’s right, i got the snow dot bunny jumper skirt in off white! so awesome, since i really wanted it last time i went to the BABY store too! aah i’m so happy! okay lots of pictures now.

btw it all looks like it’s an icky yellow but it’s just under 1AM artificial lighting…eek hahaha

upsettingly, i found out this morning that i left my REALLY expensive hair straightener in the hotel…i’m talking $500. (yes it’s expensive, but awesome hair like mine takes effort…;D). i was really pissed off at first but i called the hotel twice and they ended up finding it! it’s gonna be sent back to me, yay :D i was so upset for a few hours haha!
